Once you like an explanation, supportive examples become easy to notice. Before looking for more evidence, name an observation that would make you reconsider. It should be something you can recognise without moving the goalposts. You can still change the standard later, but explain why instead of quietly changing what success means.
What would change your mind?
Give your favourite idea a fair chance to be wrong.
A small example
A manager thinks a longer onboarding guide will help. She decides beforehand to reconsider if three new starters still need the same handoff explained after using the revised guide.
Keep in mind
One unusual result may not settle a question. Look at the quality and relevance of evidence as well as its direction.
