Describe who is struggling, what they are trying to accomplish, and what gets in the way. Leave your product out of that sentence. This creates room for simpler alternatives, including changes to a process. A useful problem statement is narrow enough to investigate and concrete enough that someone can recognise a real occurrence.
Write the problem without naming your solution
If your problem statement contains the feature, you may have skipped a step.
A small example
“Small businesses need an AI dashboard” becomes “A shop owner spends Sunday combining receipts from three places before she knows what she owes suppliers.” Several very different solutions could help.
Keep in mind
A clear statement is still a hypothesis until the people concerned recognise it in their own experience.
